When the Sandtown-Winchester Limited Partnership took
possession of a partially constructed building, they needed
a Contractor that could temporarily support the building
while demolishing load bearing partitions, and then turn
the building into a state-of-the-art Nursing Home. This
Owner turned to Essex for their pre-construction and construction
services.
Achieving the Owner's goal of employing local residents
and minority businesses, Essex accepted the challenge.
Every floor of the building was temporarily supported,
while load bearing partitions were relocated to fit patient
room lay-outs. Medical gas systems, nurses stations, medical
offices, a complete kitchen and cafeteria, new elevators,
and 60 new Assisted Living Quarters were constructed on
time and within budget.
