A public-private partnership between the University
of Maryland, State of Maryland and private donors, the
Columbus Center's 250,000 square feet is dedicated to
Marine Biology Research.Located where Pier 6 and 7 previously
occupied Baltimore's Inner Harbor, the Columbus Center
is located adjacent to the National Aquarium In Baltimore.The
building is supported by a pre-cast concrete pile foundation.
The structure is reinforced concrete. The building exterior
is comprised of architectural pre-cast is constructed
of an air supported enclosure.
